Principal's Message

Message from Ms. Lopez

Dear American Canyon High School Families and Community Members,

I am pleased to introduce myself as the newly appointed Principal of American Canyon High School. I am excited to work with the dedicated staff, extraordinary students and their supportive families. The Napa Valley Unified School District has, and American Canyon High School is strong in building, a rich tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, enrichment, extra-curriculars, and community support. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute, and continue, to build these traditions with my experience and enthusiasm, and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your students’ success.

I have been an Assistant Principal at California High School for the past three years, and previous to that, I served as the Assistant Principal of John Swett High School for four years. I have worked in public education going on 15 years, and I taught high school History and English. My specific concentration as a school administrator has been in designing teacher professional development opportunities to build capacity, enhance instruction, and help create a 21st Century High School that will best prepare our students for college, career, and to be exceptional global citizens.

This upcoming school year, I will continue to work to support a vision of a 21st Century High School. It is our imperative as a community to offer students real world experience, problem-solving opportunities, and allow them to take part in facilitating their own learning. We have been embarking on a new reality in schools that requires us to work collaboratively to model for our students the skills and knowledge it takes to be successful in our rapidly changing and advancing world. I am here to partner with teachers, students, parents, and the community as a whole to achieve the goal of every student leaving high school prepared for the college or career of their choice.

It is my fundamental belief that a school can only serve students best when we all work together, teachers, staff, students, parents and the greater community, to provide the best education for our students.  I am looking forward to this opportunity to work will all of these groups to help our students become life-long learners in our rapidly changing, and increasingly global community.

As Principal, my door is always open, and I welcome your input. Please feel free to stop in or make an appointment to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or just to get to know each other. Let’s all work together to make this upcoming school year excellent.

Go Wolves!

Ms. Crystal Lopez
